For the past two weeks I had been working fifty hours a week and over. I had been stitching as fast as I could but time just seems to slip away! The good news is I am finished with them all! WHOO-HOO!!!<br /><br />Okay this top one is for the "Catch My Star" blog teaser. It goes to a wonderful Crazy Quilter who won the big prize! I thought since the last pin keeper that I made for her was dramatic, I thought that glitz was on the order for this one! I am hoping that it is truly over the top glitzy for her!!<br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixa5Mg6jQQv5LpuLkXBqqJrl5ZXI0OC0aU7BFhfI02MQltA6encDvaoYXa1vr2oOOEU-Vlj9K3Xq1rUWgy779_ZDqgD1w-4zsObAq9hf3-YOkkSs31jq1KAt57tnfuEgypy_BXyR5ZJjc/s1600-h/Febuary+prizes+011.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306120472482878914" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 198px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixa5Mg6jQQv5LpuLkXBqqJrl5ZXI0OC0aU7BFhfI02MQltA6encDvaoYXa1vr2oOOEU-Vlj9K3Xq1rUWgy779_ZDqgD1w-4zsObAq9hf3-YOkkSs31jq1KAt57tnfuEgypy_BXyR5ZJjc/s200/Febuary+prizes+011.JPG" border="0" /></a> Here is the back. Don't y'all just love the 50's evening gown fabric?? I do too!!<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306120476174491010" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2nOBVcLpR77gwJiXx0LYIXCVuVzMqlKN2qnh9syJmCask4YwIG0x3HQAgm4rgJQ3WhfF_rEeL9fj_MqBatsat4YuXbrLopnIZSkIUW5gZAVMwbgl0bLAswL0t_Folh_5nyY9htphrDOo/s200/Febuary+prizes+012.JPG" border="0" />This next one is a big surprise for a really great lady. The hint is she has fallen and hurt herself and I am hoping that when she gets this that all the hurt fades a bit! I looked at the likes and dislikes chart and chose the colors that she had listed.<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdjvi0M54PP8xopjR2qRFxKM7WzITa5Yv4ISrIjbnJ7wnOrnKDOZzV6TwiWKn2Y5VoXuJGknh5JSFE2mZV5b6mqr-oSPR0rKZq1vyZr7dUqTTJ9l7MVJMHRTc2CegqvqgCLg1tkNu7O3M/s1600-h/Febuary+prizes+010.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306120467733016130" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 197px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdjvi0M54PP8xopjR2qRFxKM7WzITa5Yv4ISrIjbnJ7wnOrnKDOZzV6TwiWKn2Y5VoXuJGknh5JSFE2mZV5b6mqr-oSPR0rKZq1vyZr7dUqTTJ9l7MVJMHRTc2CegqvqgCLg1tkNu7O3M/s200/Febuary+prizes+010.JPG" border="0" /></a> On the front I know that the piece of velvet is a little too small to appreciate the fabric so I took a picture of the back. I was in one of my favorite thrift stores when I found this one.(For those of y'all who don't know, I get the vast majority of my fabric from thrift stores. Besides making these pin keepers from old CD's it is the best way of going green!) I did not know at the time that I got this fabric that I would be doing this pin keeper. The fabric just spoke to me!</div><div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306120486328039698" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 196px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibcqu-vR3HI_Z2e6Mp4CaO8iDiokxI3_pV52c7Uo2blWZYEcZvtvllNab9VpyPwJM70G8HFTWBTpD8r3blvxdnMPuZjsmd0bp0RCBx2ZnS-tpvERE8ysYdN79ZfvpqJ_n8vdwvEQ2NGpg/s200/Febuary+prizes+013.JPG" border="0" />Now, here is the last pin keeper! Like I said above all, it was the tree for the delay! When this pin keeper said TREE I had to put one on it! So here it is in all of its glory! I am happy that I did it though. It just makes the pin keeper! I hope that the person who receives it likes it!<br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0sbX8rtEUNiLxC5OtbJnldxuyp25S_jN1iRLSEn8WJ1waOCcP97d2jbJsAYiRrQWeOQeDM5IEjAtrz6LPt6XiBLQKS9vuNaO46IEH5hPx_uryEj4oOzjLKcl45gooM7zxzOCoQkz3QBg/s1600-h/Febuary+prizes+009.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5306120461838801170" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 192px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0sbX8rtEUNiLxC5OtbJnldxuyp25S_jN1iRLSEn8WJ1waOCcP97d2jbJsAYiRrQWeOQeDM5IEjAtrz6LPt6XiBLQKS9vuNaO46IEH5hPx_uryEj4oOzjLKcl45gooM7zxzOCoQkz3QBg/s200/Febuary+prizes+009.JPG" border="0" /></a> It is now on to other projects! The crazy quilt will be called "Catch My Star". I found some old cigarette silks that have early actresses printed on them. I had a bonus question that featured a song in a movie. Shari in Co was the first to get that question right as I think that she is some what (wink, wink) a really big Ricky Nelson fan. For answering that question right I had made a pin keeper. Here is the pin keeper I made. It features red and black silk.<br /><br />Side 1<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHFzi3xR0MWW7Hv7vCfPHxMxirDLmC-uwz-bP0TukzCBmGY3zbEN5UfITKKs6dvxd3_XxvOYpNnFRa5sxucV6DVkDW6mLgwsS-INZyNMiHpmgravOQwvpxPu3zIYGkkPeeisJKMsFnmlY/s1600-h/Red+and+Black+Pin+Keeper+005.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289966388948672546" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHFzi3xR0MWW7Hv7vCfPHxMxirDLmC-uwz-bP0TukzCBmGY3zbEN5UfITKKs6dvxd3_XxvOYpNnFRa5sxucV6DVkDW6mLgwsS-INZyNMiHpmgravOQwvpxPu3zIYGkkPeeisJKMsFnmlY/s200/Red+and+Black+Pin+Keeper+005.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />Side 2<br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6_SYrv1G2odZiUctA2yplnQcB6uiVARfAk1Ie8VNqGyrWKUwTXuVxWJvLOPwS6UrM8nWYBSm88zssPP6NH6nmKiBdf_t91O1skp9SsFJF3xLWaOIThcNzeAALwES8opq8EduKJrFLtRs/s1600-h/Red+and+Black+Pin+Keeper+006.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5289966385401541410" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6_SYrv1G2odZiUctA2yplnQcB6uiVARfAk1Ie8VNqGyrWKUwTXuVxWJvLOPwS6UrM8nWYBSm88zssPP6NH6nmKiBdf_t91O1skp9SsFJF3xLWaOIThcNzeAALwES8opq8EduKJrFLtRs/s200/Red+and+Black+Pin+Keeper+006.JPG" border="0" /></a><br />It turned out very dramatic! I made this pin keep for a special person. Rebecca, is a wonderful person who is full of knowledge and generosity. She has helped out all of her friends in their time of need.<br /><br />She volunteered to teach a stitch at The Lost Pines Crazy Quilt Group. By the way she does excellent bullion knots! So as a teacher gift I gave her a pin keeper!<br />She was so excited! That is because of family demands I had to rush to make pin keepers for a charity event. My sewing group that meets here on the second Saturday was having their annual charity drive. Since there were people there that were quilters I thought that I would make an enticing array of CD Pin Keepers.<br /><br />And here they are:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9IEOkKfgXk7UM1ikpP7L9gZOxlPOSr0c_LtI51-JOBRQnt72DwTfbTtxMlAzsvFZ8Rspq99GmMaXDWOVrPISZg5w16NUlFBB8cFu8oaO_AbS0rfusqzsO_8_7nmeSi5L62m-lFqr4R04/s1600-h/hpqscan0006.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267535010133677890" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 199px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9IEOkKfgXk7UM1ikpP7L9gZOxlPOSr0c_LtI51-JOBRQnt72DwTfbTtxMlAzsvFZ8Rspq99GmMaXDWOVrPISZg5w16NUlFBB8cFu8oaO_AbS0rfusqzsO_8_7nmeSi5L62m-lFqr4R04/s200/hpqscan0006.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoCwS7WI-x8z6UG3ec20pzwIQeAh15dCi59cFpwWqCYwARi5i2sHFxWGyX17Bzdvvy8P-orBDbCjUM_YgcAkp3h0YcotsmZoJXX7bdZHTFB5hP0nZoB84zy8k22Iueami3JyFuNnIMuh4/s1600-h/hpqscan0005.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267534878943084002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 196px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoCwS7WI-x8z6UG3ec20pzwIQeAh15dCi59cFpwWqCYwARi5i2sHFxWGyX17Bzdvvy8P-orBDbCjUM_YgcAkp3h0YcotsmZoJXX7bdZHTFB5hP0nZoB84zy8k22Iueami3JyFuNnIMuh4/s200/hpqscan0005.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTqqIqseffUV-mS8Hz5cJtoAU0PSKOXUdRIsaxGkPlVLMowL0aSbqfrlSXOf04ei8B55L9orN7x9t40NBz_MP3g4NO_2cbJpvRAIVRNsXVpSABLOqqa0_N8cMntLQBTSOS6skKRLGGpws/s1600-h/hpqscan0004.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267534869758726546" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 198px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTqqIqseffUV-mS8Hz5cJtoAU0PSKOXUdRIsaxGkPlVLMowL0aSbqfrlSXOf04ei8B55L9orN7x9t40NBz_MP3g4NO_2cbJpvRAIVRNsXVpSABLOqqa0_N8cMntLQBTSOS6skKRLGGpws/s200/hpqscan0004.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_tBAJl9jfOLjZrybpg9X-aqtwWJQq4HH_yjt2eKfeu4JsRdOVRrBL9mWwN2uIRSSLNkrKmtnfUVIZ2oJ0OWLFRp73B0_iH-dkynX3lg2GiCH0c9k0m0h4JzudX8GRBIYDSf4OIL42_UU/s1600-h/hpqscan0003.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267534867649856546" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_tBAJl9jfOLjZrybpg9X-aqtwWJQq4HH_yjt2eKfeu4JsRdOVRrBL9mWwN2uIRSSLNkrKmtnfUVIZ2oJ0OWLFRp73B0_iH-dkynX3lg2GiCH0c9k0m0h4JzudX8GRBIYDSf4OIL42_UU/s200/hpqscan0003.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIKzCj6OUUsQDBh9Nh_-wBoTHEtyB6662B0Ddhyphenhyphenrgl0KuNs0KZZRlMuLTkmSROtZacg-E2ODB7XdLd4zrWjdwDRegrPBKxYkb5SwM3mbF2kJo-vIDJMBr073lI1l0-OpOs9YkodqwTNfM/s1600-h/hpqscan0002.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267534859111273090" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 199px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIKzCj6OUUsQDBh9Nh_-wBoTHEtyB6662B0Ddhyphenhyphenrgl0KuNs0KZZRlMuLTkmSROtZacg-E2ODB7XdLd4zrWjdwDRegrPBKxYkb5SwM3mbF2kJo-vIDJMBr073lI1l0-OpOs9YkodqwTNfM/s200/hpqscan0002.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnxLGqv5jX7OYaQAQ3cEiFHCVs3mWGlQSNzGJ58gwLlxzpZHFu4zQLoj5k_l-0V4_CnVmHaSJrtDAH_wK77lXy9ufgzx_aAMXF6ZxmG2KfliL3VPxZG1MEX_jMUIInykrYSDcl6CpalmQ/s1600-h/hpqscan0001.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5267534855579565714" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 184px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnxLGqv5jX7OYaQAQ3cEiFHCVs3mWGlQSNzGJ58gwLlxzpZHFu4zQLoj5k_l-0V4_CnVmHaSJrtDAH_wK77lXy9ufgzx_aAMXF6ZxmG2KfliL3VPxZG1MEX_jMUIInykrYSDcl6CpalmQ/s200/hpqscan0001.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><br />They all went into a silent auction. All of course sold. I was happy that they did. I am hopeing that their new owners will be very happy with them. I think that the "highlighting" with the golds on the SRE turned out really well.</div><div>We raised over 700 dollars for The Food Pantry. It is a beautiful pin keeper that was done in yellows with the most wonderful stitching.<br />She had stated in the email that she was not able to participate in the CQI pin keeper swap but she wanted me to see the pin keeper that she did. As I said it was wonderful, just beautiful!<br /><br />So in returning her email I told her that I would be proud to swap with her. So here it is. The pin keeper that I made for her:<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikTgt323mVCKiv9cjCRsDOKT551X0PR7a4nWHmMitn0HYXPHdX9B36G8LL5ieZbM25hssS6u1B7g4dFKKLHrEKxIKuRC9LPuizmgM8QY5dGzBHCNzZZMKDgVJ6nG_DH0tRh5cTrvw46Oc/s1600-h/hpqscan0001.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5263099063085717730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 190px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 200px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikTgt323mVCKiv9cjCRsDOKT551X0PR7a4nWHmMitn0HYXPHdX9B36G8LL5ieZbM25hssS6u1B7g4dFKKLHrEKxIKuRC9LPuizmgM8QY5dGzBHCNzZZMKDgVJ6nG_DH0tRh5cTrvw46Oc/s200/hpqscan0001.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />Front<br /><br /><br /><p><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5263099061484557442" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 190px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiiKuUgbFEecgoS0C3b1RckX8eOJTqn3wNjQM7592sYRKTl1PlvMzgBjx00ubOLpeRuwfIwMiL9WTMgWFmUAZjmvJbHsxd0l6nINxnSZIQAZ1yPixYpo8rxeUue0AnkFPxpxBI-PKp0Qg/s200/hpqscan0002.jpg" border="0" />Back</p><p> </p><p>I had taken my time with this one as I had wanted to play with the design a little bit. I printed up the silkie from a trading card that I had recently found in the clutter of my desk. All of the stitching was done in silk ribbon, the high lights are from my recent going broke marathon in my favorite store. I am hoping that my new friend likes what I have done with the pin keeper.</p><p>This pin keep will be off to Finland tomorrow.</p><p> </p><p><span style="font-size:180%;color:#ff99ff;">TTFN<br /></span></p>quiltlionhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07797308044192830182noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3418347937044108419.post-34099860821280595792008-10-30T05:34:00.000-07:002008-10-30T05:51:56.899-07:00Friendship Pin keepersI am starting to go through my pictures so that I can start posting. Here are two shots that I thought that I would share with you first. The top one is my first attempt at and under the sea theme. I made this for a special friend. She has such a free spirit. I immediately thought of a sea sprite. So this is what I made for her.<br />After giving it to her she told me that she loved the sea. That her home is full of ocean and sea things. I have since lost touch with her. I am not sad because one day I know that I will see her again.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEIkpde6OAYLyyfZRqO4oL_qby-To6GYi5qutyT-ovXDgWda8gdAA3ITE_2Ahj3Cw4dIzB6aEx3RQrf1PxJ34L8nDEmOH44RR7tg5KlbEgIgqEE_wMdCov0uSiMibwW0Wqh8H5qRwZa3o/s1600-h/452.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262925047988970482" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEIkpde6OAYLyyfZRqO4oL_qby-To6GYi5qutyT-ovXDgWda8gdAA3ITE_2Ahj3Cw4dIzB6aEx3RQrf1PxJ34L8nDEmOH44RR7tg5KlbEgIgqEE_wMdCov0uSiMibwW0Wqh8H5qRwZa3o/s200/452.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div>This next Pin Keeper was given to a very special patient of mine. She was in one of my nursing homes that I service for recovery and rehab. When I would go in at night before I could draw her blood, I would have to help her pick up pins from her bed as she was hand piecing blocks and dropped them all over the place. So I made this for her so that the loose pins would be kept at a minimum. She has been since sent home. I also know that I will see her again as I am hoping to enter into the Austin Quilt Show. She lives in Austin and attends the show. She is also a member of the Austin quilt guild.</div><div> </div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj049OAUmyQILbHn_INwjbAaldxRfTeFOxMVEBgxaRbNPvppa2GrUa5m85ltVkhKMicw6ogRvaSLhI1Q40xhhSifp0_-iWWtGsaAUwbGZ-ci3B3do1FdRxIOQEhWgI5hdd85Pcrpb2julk/s1600-h/458.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262925043662366978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 150px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj049OAUmyQILbHn_INwjbAaldxRfTeFOxMVEBgxaRbNPvppa2GrUa5m85ltVkhKMicw6ogRvaSLhI1Q40xhhSifp0_-iWWtGsaAUwbGZ-ci3B3do1FdRxIOQEhWgI5hdd85Pcrpb2julk/s200/458.jpg" border="0" /></a><br />God gives us friends.
